Bloux Note Music

Home of Music for Low String Ensembles

My name is Brian Loux, and I am currently a graduate student majoring in Cello Performance at Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas. My first instrument was the guitar, which I started in 2005. Cello followed quickly after, and soon enough I found I had delved into violin, bass (upright and electric), orchestral percussion, drum set, and saxophone, among others. Currently, I consider my "main" instruments to be guitar, cello, and bass.

From a young age, I knew that I wanted to write music. It didn't take me too long to realize that I wasn't much of a person for original compositions, and I soon turned my sights away from writing and towards arranging. The freedom to still be creative but having a guideline to work with was a relief. Once I got into arranging, I never looked back.

As I got older and started taking part in various collegiate low strings ensembles, I couldn't help but notice that while a cello quartet could be just as effective (if not more than) a performing group as a string quartet, the repertoire for the ensemble was somewhat lacking. After some small explorations into arranging simpler pieces and songs for cello quartet, I began to work on more serious things. Following some encouragement from the groups I was working with, I began to sell these arrangements both in person and online.
